Basil and Cheese Dumplings

1 tb Butter or margarine
1 tb Fresh chives; snipped -OR- 1 tb Green onion; sliced
1/2 ts Dried basil leaf
1/2 c Creamed cottage cheese (4oz)
1 c All-purpose flour; sifted
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Baking powder


Melt butter or margarine in a small skillet. Add chives or green onion and basil. Cook, Stirring constantly, until herbs soften. Remove skillet from heat. Stir in cottrage cheese; set aside. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder into a medium bowl. Add cottage-cheese mixture. Stir until combined. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls into simmering soup. Cover soup and simmer until dumpling are firms, about 15 minutes. Makes about 12.
